Well lilo assumes, that the major/minors stay the same. This is basically wrong as soon as you use dynamic device mappings (like LVM or DM). So in order to "work around" this problem, I have implemented a fallback root device method, which should show up as soon as the root device given via the command line was not found.
The LVM bug was fixed as well. Thanks a lot for reporting!
This should fix all the problems mentioned here, so I will close this bug. If you find anything suspicious with Alpha7, please let me know.
OK, I understand. In the meantime, I changed my workstation OSes setup so, unfortunately, I would not be able to test the "work around". I will be able to test the LVM bug though and, as soon as I get to test Alpha 7, I will let you know if anything goes wrong. Thank you !
