well.
it is not about client or server:
1) yes, if you leave password option at commandline (mount samba volume
interactively), you can, after asked, enter password manually..
2) to reproduce this bug, you don't need target machine for mounting, with
existing user there, samba simply rejects request for rest of command, while
recognizes password of lenght, which does not like..
next example:
Input:
nettezzaumana:/home/dpecka # mount -t cifs -o
username=tux,password=tuxisreallyverynicepinguinandwelikehim
//my_neighbours_flat/wc /my_flat/wc
Output:
password too long
. in our network does not exist 'my_neighbours_flat' computer and in my
workstation surely does not exists folder /my_flat/wc..
