[Bug 282635] openSUSE 10. 2 will not install install properly on an older Vaio laptop

Sorry, but a ten year old non-booting laptop is no blocker.
As there is even a workaround (failsafe), it's not even critical.
10.2 is out now anyway, so there is nothing to block...
Does:
pci=noacpi
or
acpi=off
work?
If the first one works, go for it, if not, try the other one.
If you add such a boot parameter, when you boot the installation CD and then
start to install, it will be added for ever and everything should work out
fine.
I am going to close this one again, as I am pretty sure that one of the two
will work.
If not, or if you see restrictions because of these parameters, pls reopen.
BTW: 10.2 is out and it's difficult to add fixes there as no other machines may
break. If you give 10.3 Alpha/Beta a test we could do more.
