Hi Ferdinand, I think I am experiencing the same problem.  I had just written a
report (see it below), when I noticed your report about a similar problem.
I can only add that initially I had the impression that Quickstarter was
involved in all this, plus a check on the location of the attachments.



* Summary:

  Problem opening Kmail/Kontact attachments with OpenOffice.org.


* Description:

  I have a message with two attachments:

     linee_guida_statuto_28-6.doc
     statuto_28_6.doc

  If I try to open the first one, OOo loads it without problems.  If I try to
open also the second one (OOo still opened on the first attachment), then I get
an error message.

  The same happens if I close OOo, then try to open the *second* attachment
first: in this case I can't load the *first* one.

  If I open either one of the attachments, view it, then close OOo, *then* I
can open the other one.

  I have the OpenOffice.org Quickstarter applet running: closing it does not
seem to help, although in the past I noticed that the problem seems to appear
more frequently when Quickstarter is running (need to investigate that more in
detail).


* Further investigations:

  I have verified the problem with .xls attachments as well (-> OpenOffice.org
Calc).

  In the above example, OpenOffice.org complaints that
"/tmp/kde-vincenzo/statuto_28_6.doc_[szAVma].doc" does not exist".

  That file indeed does not exist. However, I found the two attachements here:

  It appears that the attachment are both there, but OOo does not look in the
right place when it's already running.


* Notes:

  May be relevant to this problem?  Here are some settings in
/etc/sysconfig/cron:

    MAX_DAYS_IN_TMP="15"
    MAX_DAYS_IN_LONG_TMP="30"
    TMP_DIRS_TO_CLEAR="/tmp"
    LONG_TMP_DIRS_TO_CLEAR="/var/tmp"
    OWNER_TO_KEEP_IN_TMP=""
    CLEAR_TMP_DIRS_AT_BOOTUP="no"

  I doubt so, but I don't have other clues at the moments.


* Using:

  openSUSE 10.2
  KDE     (kdebase3-3.5.5-102.6 etc.)
  Kontact (kdepim3-3.5.5-39)
  OpenOffice.org (OpenOffice_org-2.0.4-38.5 etc.)
  OpenOffice.org Quickstarter (OpenOffice_org-Quickstarter-1.0-514)
