Summary: "int argument required" error installing OpenSUSE 10.2
guest VM under OpenSUSE 10.2/Xen
Product: openSUSE 10.2
Version: Final
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Critical
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Xen
AssignedTo: cgriffin@xxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: axoninc@xxxxxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx
CC: axoninc@xxxxxxxxx
Error "int argument required" on OpenSUSE 10.2 guest VM under OpenSUSE 10.2/Xen
host. Error:
"Cannot start virtual machine"
"Command: /usr/sbin/xm create /etc/xen/vm/file return"
"Error: int argument required"
"using config file "/etc/xen/vm/Linux"
Hardware is IBM xSeries 3500 with Intel VT extensions enabled & a guest Linux
OS was successfully installed & run using a different OS on this hardware. The
error happens immediately after installing the Xen guest and it appears at the
point where it is trying to complete the installation inside the guest VM. In
other words, you run the guest installation (see settings below) and it reads
the source files from the DVD or from a path in the file system and then it
bombs with the above error, apparantly when trying to start the VM. The text
mode installer comes up, but can't see a DVD drive and has no access to the
file system where the installer files are also located. The only choice is to
cancel out of the text mode install, but then there is no entry added for this
VM and so you can't simply modify the path to the DVD drive to make this work
(as was necessary with a Windows Server 2003 guest VM install on this box).
