Summary: fox16: --with-xim configure option disables keyboard
function in Applications
Product: openSUSE 10.2
Version: Final
Platform: All
OS/Version: openSUSE 10.2
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Other
AssignedTo: lrupp@xxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: lrupp@xxxxxxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx
This is from an email conversation with a fox-application developer:
"The problem is the following : on Opensuse 10.2, there is a big issue with
the keyboard in any FOX application (adie, PathFinder, etc.) and also in
Xfe when trying to enter text in *any* text field. It is possible to move
the cursor using arrow keys, to delete a letter but not to enter any
character. This is a big bug and many people that use Suse have reported it
to me. I have tested Opensuse 10.2 with several versions of FOX 1.6.x and
Xfe 0.99.x and the bug is there. I use the french locale fr_FR.UTF-8 but
I'm not sure if the bug is locale related. I have tested the same versions
of FOX and Xfe in Fedora Core 6, Debian Etch and Ubuntu 7.04 and there is
no problem in these distros.
Thus, I suspect a bug in Opensuse..."
=> This seams to be a bug in the additionaly enabled "--with-xim" option during
configure, which was enabled for testing in 10.2. Disabling this feature
resolves the problem.
