Summary: grub cannot write boot record (Promise Technology, Inc.
PDC20319 (FastTrak S150 TX4) (rev 02))
Product: openSUSE 10.3
Version: Alpha 4
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Major
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Installation
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: Winfrid.Tschiedel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
QAContact: jsrain@xxxxxxxxxx
CC: daniel.rahn@xxxxxxxxxx
If you are using a system with a FastTrak S150 TX4 controller, you
have to define even for a single disk a RAID0.
If you are installing on this system fedora (6 or higher) or rhel 5 in all
cases a new partition table has to be created and you will get
partitions like /dev/mapper/pdc_bjfeeibeeb....
If you wish to install openSUSE on such a disk, everything will work except,
there is no boot-record written.
Same happens on other systems, when dm-raid is used to use a RAID.
Attached error from grub.
