All the files do exist on C:\. When I removed the hiddenmenu, nothing special happened - no errors, etc. It outputs the following information right before going to the grub prompt: ---- Booting 'find /menu.lst' find --set-root /menu.lst (hd0,0) Filesystem type is fat, partition type 0xc configfile /menu.lst ---- After that, I am at the text based grub prompt. I did some more investigating, and found some interesting things I hope will help you find the problem. 1. Even though it found the /menu.lst file (or the openSUSE_hitme.txt, it did NOT set the root to (hd0,0). If I immediately type 'root', it tells me the root is "(hd31): Filesystem type is iso9006, using whole disk". 2. If I try to specify the kernel by putting in "kernel /" and then pressing tab a few times, it shows the files on the opensuse DVD. 3. If I manually run "find --set-root /menu.lst", and re-check the root, it is properly set to (hd0,0). 4. If I reboot with the DVD out of the drive, it properly loads at least to a point where it says "you passed an undefined mode number" and I can wait 30 seconds before it continues on. The video parameter is set to vga=0x31A. Eventually it starts the install. Okay, now a couple of my own thoughts. Why even include this if you reboot to start the install anyway? It's the same result as booting off the CD, but a lot more complicated. Also, my 2 cents is that vga=normal should be default. Anything else just slows things down and can cause problems (256+ LUNs?). But I realize that's out of the scope of this bug. I would like to see an installer that can format an available partition and install the RPMS, etc from within the running OS (whether that be Windows or another flavor of linux). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
