Summary: hald-addon-storage hangs in D state when accessing
Pioneer ATAPI DVD-ROM
Product: openSUSE 10.2
Version: Final
Platform: i686
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Critical
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Kernel
AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: robert.finze@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx
CC: kernel01@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
on startup, hald-addon-storage accesses my "Pioneer DVD-ROM ATAPIModel
DVD-120S" and hangs in D state. all subsequent accesses of other programs to
hdb also result in these programs hanging in D state. This happened to the yast
storage module, fdisk etc.
first log message about the problem is:
hdb: status error: status=0xd8 { Busy }
ide: failed opcode was: unknown
hdb: DMA disabled
hdb: ATAPI reset complete
hdb: request sense failure: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdb: request sense failure: error=0x04 { AbortedCommand }
after that, every access to hdb hangs
attached is a tar archive with logs and backtraces generated with sysrq-t
note: sysrq-t was used twice (you can see in the logs the first backtrace
attempt was truncated"
also in the attachment are y2logs (if relevant), lsmod, ps auxww, and a list of
files under /sys/block
i will now remove the dvd drive from my configuration and hope it won't hang
again. in case you need me to redo the tests with the dvdrom inserted, tell me.
