This seems to work only partially:

xev gives:

KeyRelease event, serial 31, synthetic NO, window 0x5c00001,
    root 0x79, subw 0x0, time 730647371, (91,125), root:(707,156),
    state 0x0, keycode 227 (keysym 0xff67, Menu), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XFilterEvent returns: False

However, I activated "use menu key as compose key" in KDE's keyboard settings.

Therefore, it should not say "Menu", but "Multi_key".

Indeed, the menu key does not work as a compose key.
