Fitting a PATA hard drive isn't particularly practical with this Medion system.
It uses a propriety non-ATX motherboard. The DVD drives do, however, still use
a PATA interface.
There is the complication that the system only has one interface so a hard
drive would have to share the same PATA connection with one of the DVD drives
in Master/Slave configuration.
Not ideal, but should allow for a developmental install.
I presume that you would provide the patched kernels, since my skills would not
be adequate for this sort of experimentation, though I could, hopefully, follow
instructions providing they are reasonably explicit.

Also, I have found myself rather busy of late so you might have to be fairly
patient with regard to receiving results.
