https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=275110 Summary: Edit keys don't work in password edit controls Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.2 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: dmair@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de In a normal edit control you can use keys like Shift+Home to select from the current input cursor position to the start of the value in the control. This does not work with the password control in kdm (login) or kdesu (YaST root password prompt). The following examples do nothing: Shift+Right Shift+Left Left Right (implied by Left really) Shift+Home Shift+End (implied by Left and Shift+Home) Home End (implied by others above) Interestingly, Ctrl+A appears to work to select the whole contents of the control but the normal effects of character input when there is a selection do not happen. For example, typing any character should replace the selection, it does not. Pressing Del should remove the selection, it does not. Equally for backspace. The reason I care is that selecting the content of a password edit and typing is the method I instinctively use when I accidentally type an incorrect character into the password. The easiest way to observe this is to use the kdm login screen. Try the key options described above in the username edit control. Then try them in the password control. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
