hmm, I can't reproduce ATM. (Need an IPv6 setup again first)

I don't know then. I can for sure reproduce that Firefox works, if either
- IPv6 is disabled (about:config)
- mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return]
- mdns_minimal (w/o the NOTFOUND rule)
is used.
Are you sure that you restarted Firefox when you changed nsswitch.conf?

I haven't tested this at all. I _don't_ have that installed and it still works
for me if I use an option from above.
In the end I agree that in theory there has to be a 32bit library of nss-mdns
if a 32bit application is trying to use it (through nss) but I'm still
wondering why the above options also work.
