A similar situation is appearing with the Ksmarttray in Gnome. I have placed it
in the Gnome Session Startup Menu to load at startup. However, it only loads
sometimes. It typically flashes on the desktop at some point, but it fails to
load as an icon in the panel.
One thing I have noticed is that if I log into XFCE first the icon pretty much
always appears. If I log out and back into GNOME then there is about a 90%
chance the icon will load into the icon panel.
