When there's a screen update in the GNOME Terminal, the CPU goes to 100% and
everything else is sluggish.
This was notices while doing a ./configure, but anything that updates the
terminal window will cause the same sort of isse. Try to just enter TOP and
watch the cpu go to 100% each the the screen is updated.
