I have read the S2ram article and followed it's directions. These are the
options that at _least_ brought back the screen (when using 'init=/bin/bash' as
kernel parameter)

s2ram -fp
s2ram -fpm
s2ram -fps

These commands _always_ failed:
(s2ram) -fa1, -fa2, -fa3, -fm, -fs ...

Seems like the -p flag does a good job of restoring the video. This
_does_not_work_ while using KDE; the screen normally stays black. Another
problem is the keyboard _never_ resumes. Caps-lock key remains non-functional
after resume in _all_ cases.
