After updating some packages (including gtk2) from factory, smart --gui does
not work properly any more.

To reproduce:

- Run smart --gui
- In the toolbar, click the left symbol ("Update channels"; this is a symbol
with two blue arrows when using the Tango icon theme)

Expected result:

smart shows a popup with some progress information about the channel update.

Actual result:

smart seems to actually update the channel information, but there is no popup
window.
