https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=246795 Summary: Sound doesn't work even if alsasound is started without an error Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound AssignedTo: tiwai@novell.com ReportedBy: lmuelle@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de I have two IBM ThinkPad systems. One R40 and one X31. lspci reports for the R40: 00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 03) and for the X31: 00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 01) Both system had a working sound subsystem last with the initial 10.1 IIRC. The last mentioned hardware from a ThinkPad X31 works even well with Ubuntu 6.10. I've tried to remove /etc/modprobe.d/sound and reconfigure the sound system with alsaconf or YaST's sound module. The result is as before: The alsasound init script loads the required kernel modules but I can't hear any sound. I've also called set_default_volume. hwinfo and lspci outpu follows. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
