https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=239129 Summary: How do I setup 2 pc's to transfer a huge file between them Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: gdoig@pcug.org.au QAContact: qa@suse.de I have a problem where I want to transfer a single 20 Gigabyte file from one pc to another laptop using openSUSE 10.2 on each computer, and I want to know an easy way on how to do this. Restrictions are as follows, cant use usb key - file too big to fit. I have access to a ethernet crossover cable to use. Also the pc and laptop are connected to a 4 port adsl modem router for internet access. I'm thinking to disconnect the 4 port adsl modem router and connecting them directly using the ethernet crossover cable. Lets call the 2 machines: - pc1.site (has the source file) - pc2.site (the target to receive the file) IP Address: Both machines {pc1,pc2}.site have a ip Address of 127.0.0.2 (same value). Where do i need to change the values IP Addresses so they are diferrent ? How do I set up hosts so they see each other ? (e.g can ping the other machine) SUSE firewall, what do I open up here, so each machine can transfer data to the to the other one. How do I do this in YAST ? I have got a user account on each machine, if I put the file to be transferred in that how do I transfer it across to the other pc, what commands do you use ? Have I missed any other issues on the setting up the machines ?. Any help/guidance is appreciated. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
