This means that you couldn't reach max cpufreq on battery (sometimes?).
without a script (doing "cp /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_max_freq /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq") max cpufreq can never be reached. and this is regardless if running on battery or not. but when machine is in "bad state", even this script didn't help. "good state": max cpufreq is not reached automatically. but with little "help-script" it is reached. "bad state": max cpufreq is not reached automatically. little "help-script" doesn't solve problem.
As there shouldn't be any kernel ABI changes it should work out if you move > the newly installed module directory and create a link instead pointing to the > old one
i did it the other way around and copied every missing directory from /lib/modules/2.6.18.2-34-default to /lib/modules/2.6.18.5-34-default which also works. status so far: until today, i NEVER EVER reached "bad state" with your new 2.6.18.5-34-default kernel. batteray-status is updated. cpu reaches maximum freq (with little "helper script") temperatures are not going so high any more. from my point of view this is the best kernel ever for a hp nc8430 notebook. please make an official opensuse10.2 update kernel with all these changes as soon as possible. thanks! i will post anything new here, when something changes or happens. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
