[Bug 235053] New: Lirc_i2c supplied with Opensuse 10.2 does not detect Hauppauge TV Cards
- From: bugzilla_noreply@xxxxxxxxxx
- Date: Sun, 14 Jan 2007 12:22:59 -0700 (MST)
- Message-id: <bug-235053-21960@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/>
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=235053
Summary: Lirc_i2c supplied with Opensuse 10.2 does not detect
Hauppauge TV Cards
Product: openSUSE 10.2
Version: Final
Platform: i686
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Major
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Other
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: gchris@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx
The lirc_i2c.ko kernel module supplied in lirc-kmp-default 0.8.0-2.6.18.2-34-10
is not detecting Hauggauge PVR 250/350 TV Cards correctly and so does not set
up /dev/lirc or /dev/lirc0 objects. Substituting a newer lirc_i2c.ko module
compiled from lirc 0.8.1 into /lib/modules/2.6.18.2-34-default/updates/lirc_i2c
corrects the problem.
Unfortunately, installing the complete lirc 0.8.1 package places the lirc files
into different locations than those used by Suse. This breaks dependencies
with existing Mythtv RPMs and prevents use of the Suse provided
/etc/init.d/lirc script to control lirc.
What is needed is either a Suse RPM to supply a lirc 0.8.1 compatible with
Suse's format or a Suse RPM to replace the existing lirc-kmp-default
0.8.0-2.6.18.2-34-10 lirc_i2c.ko module with one recompiled to correct the
error in the original source.
