When you access cdrom in win98, can you watch how much cpu is used? High cpu usage indicates that PIO mode is active. It might be that your dvd rom's mwdma just doesn't work and it needs to driven in pio mode. The checksum failure is probably due to sector length bug in ide which is a known bug and doesn't really affect data integrity. So,... * Please monitor cpu usage in win98 and report. * Put the device into PIO mode and verify *file* integrity not the whole disk integrity. If the above two indicate that only PIO mode works for your drive, blacklisting should be enough. Thanks. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
