AFAIK this is considered correct behavior. Ctrl-Alt was released when the VT
switched, and from X perspective you haven't pressed them again yet.
Though it is strange that this is machine dependent. Probably some race
condition. I assume this could be considered resolved, for a final fix an
upstream bug report might have more visibility.
