https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=231496 Summary: partitioning on disk /dev/cciss/c0d0 is not readable Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: suse@bout-tyme.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com When trying to _upgrade_ a 10.0 system to 10.2 boxed media I get the following error: "The partitioning on disk /dev/cciss/c0d0 is not readable by the partitioning tool parted, which is used to change the partition table. You can use the partitions on disk /dev/cciss/c0d0 as they are. You can format them and assign mount points to them, but you cannot add, edit, resize or remove partitions from the disk with this tool." If I drop down to console (alt-F2 at the language selection screen) I can mount the partitions without error. As there are a number of settings I have made to the existing system I wish _not_ to have todo a fresh install. According to bug: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=219496 this was fixed for stable/SLES/SLED but apparently _did not_ make it into 10.2 final. This clearly is not a driver issue as I can mount the partitions, therefore the problem most likely still resides in parted. Is there any workaround or am I _forced_ to perform a fresh install?
