I understand that partitioning is critical part of the installation, however, you still can handle it more user-friendly. Asking whether to continue the installation (with appropriate warning that the system needn't boot correctly) is IMO appropriate solution. Eg. bootloader module in case of failure offers to be run interactively just before reboot.
