[Bug 230730] New: cups: tcp_wrappers refused connection from unknown
- From: bugzilla_noreply@xxxxxxxxxx
- Date: Mon, 25 Dec 2006 04:45:36 -0700 (MST)
- Message-id: <bug-230730-21960@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/>
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=230730
Summary: cups: tcp_wrappers refused connection from unknown
Product: openSUSE 10.2
Version: Final
Platform: i586
OS/Version: SuSE Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Printing
AssignedTo: jsmeix@xxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: walter.haidinger@xxxxxx
QAContact: jsmeix@xxxxxxxxxx
After upgrading from 10.1 to 10.2, cups ceased to work as expected.
The logs are flooded with messages like:
tcp_wrappers refused connection from unknown. See
/etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny.
Likewise, syslog shows hundreds of lines:
warning: /etc/hosts.allow, line 92: Unable to hand
le client address: unknown
warning: /etc/hosts.allow, line 95: Unable to hand
le client address: unknown
The relevant lines in /etc/hosts.allow are:
92 ALL : 192.168.64.
95 ALL : 192.168.56.0/25
Please note that cups is the only application having trouble
with my tcpd config. Even tcpdchk and tcpdmatch are fine.
Btw, I've set cupsd to listen on any interface 'Listen 631', otherwise
tcp wrapping would not make sense anyways.
The only "workaround" so far is to add to following to /etc/hosts.allow:
cupsd : ALL
Then just a few error messages (...refused...) are logged at cupsd startup.
So far I've found just this reference regarding this bug:
