https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=230708 Summary: ICH6R RAID not activated during boot Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: RC 5 Platform: PC OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Rudolf.Goeldner@email.de QAContact: qa@suse.de In OpenSuse 10.2 Intel's ICH6R is recognized as RAID and presented as /dev/mapper/isw_bbghbfafdj_RAID1_part1 etc. The RAID partitions are also in the FSTAB. During boot the system tries to activate he RAID partitions, but when they should be mounted they are reported to be not existent. See the extract from boot.msg below: "Waiting for /dev/mapper/isw_bbghbfafdj_RAID1_part1 /dev/mapper/isw_bbghbfafdj_RAID1_part5 .. Mounting local file systems... .. mount: special device /dev/mapper/isw_bbghbfafdj_RAID1_part1 does not exist" I found the following workaround which may be helpful to detect the bug: I created the following /etc/init.d/boot.raid: "/sbin/dmraid -ay sleep 5 # C mount /dev/mapper/isw_bbghbfafdj_RAID1_part1 etc." and defined a link to /etc/init.d/boot.d/s99boot.raid. The command "sleep 5" is important. Without it, boot.raid isn't performed correctly. ICH6R: Intel 925 chipset with Intel 82801FR I/O Controller Hub (Serial ATA-RAID-Controller) combined with Intel Application Accelerator RAID Option ROM for BIOS. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
