Summary: CPUFREQ_DYNAMIC_PERFORMANCE seems to be ignored during
boot and scheme change
Product: openSUSE 10.2
Version: Final
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Other
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: Wojciech.Szenajch@xxxxxxxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx
On notebook Dell D820 Core 2 Duo 2GHz with SuSE 10.2 x86_64, kernel
2.6.18.2-34-default and Powersave package version: 0.15.10 some variables from
files /etc/sysconfig/scheme_* seems to be ignored. I set
in /etc/sysconfig directory:
scheme_performance: variable CPUFREQ_DYNAMIC_PERFORMANCE="65"
scheme_powersave:CPUFREQ_DYNAMIC_PERFORMANCE="25"
in both schemas CPUFREQUENCY="dynamic"
just after boot and login using kde:
$:~> powersave -G
Current performance: 51
$:~> powersave -x
Powersave battery_default_scheme
Performance active AC_default_scheme
Acoustic
Now I switched to battery:
$:~> powersave -x
Powersave active battery_default_scheme
Performance AC_default_scheme
Acoustic
$:~> powersave -G
Current performance: 51 <---should be 25
After switching back to AC:
$:~> powersave -x
Powersave battery_default_scheme
Performance active AC_default_scheme
Acoustic
$:~> powersave -G
Current performance: 51 <---should be 65
Manual change i.e. to 75 works correctly using:
$:~> powersave -g 75
Performance set to 75
$:~> powersave -G
Current performance: 75
