I am looking at this from the point of view of a typical computer user. It is
not going to be obvious to typical computer user that the CD-Writer/DVD-Writer
device needs to be unmounted. This is a User Interface issue from my
perspective. Yes, K3B and other CD/DVD burning applications could be made to
unmount a device if that was a requirement of these programs using cdrecord or
wodim. You stated that "wodim needs exclusive access to the device". Could you
please point me to the design specification or other documentation that clearly
documents that wodim/cdrecord needs to work this way.
