Summary: Sax2 fails to set the frequency for Intel 865 G / BenQ
FP91GX
Product: openSUSE 10.2
Version: Final
Platform: i686
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: SaX2
AssignedTo: ms@xxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: hermann@xxxxxxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx

I installed openSUSE 10.2 (final) in graphic mode with default run level 3.
Starting X11 (startx) displayed "out of Range" (a diagnostic from the monitor
firmware). During installation YaST2 used the correct resolution (1280x1024).
Restarting sax2 failed with the same error message. Next I tried "sax2 -l"
which reported the correct hardware (BNQ FP91GX) but with a resolution of
800x600 as expected. Changing the resolution to 1280x1024 failed again.
Trying 1024x768 could not be centered (45kHz:57Hz). 800x600 was 37kHz:60Hz
which centered perfectly. I had to change the monitor type to the generic LCD
1280x1024 @ 60Hz to get it working.

If this error appears in a standard installation (booting to run level 5) it
could be critical for a novice.
