https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=229001 Summary: Proprietary NVidia driver makes XOrg unable to come up Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: RC 5 Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: tarnold@novell.com QAContact: sndirsch@novell.com I installed the nvidia-packages (1.0-9631) with yast (nvidia inst_source). After restart of X, I had a black screen and had to uninstall the driver. Next I unpacked the nvidia installationscript and built the kernel-module locally on the notebook, but with the same result. I even tried several different configurations of xorg.conf. The nvidia kernel-module was loaded, but not in use. I don't know exactly whether it is a problem of the kernel or of the driver. I was not able to do some performing workaround.
