I don't know. It does happen on 10.0 and 10.1. I just downloaded 10.2, and
will
try it there.
Some additional information:
I brought up the system with acpi=ht, and it worked ok during the boot process,
which hadn't been the case before. But once X came up, closing the lid (or
unplugging the AC adaper or plugging it back in) would hang. Also, using
ctl-alt-f1 to switch to a terminal display worked ok, I could also close and
open the lid without hanging the system. But switching back to X via
ctrl-alt-f7 would hang. At that point, the system seemed to be responding,
since pressing the power switch caused a normal shutdown. It was also possible
to get back to X by restarting it.
I then recompiled the kernel with CONFIG_ACPI_AC and CONFIG_ACPI_BUTTON turned
off. With that kernel, closing the lid still hanged the system. Running with
dual core turned off didn't change anything, either.
However, when I boot the rebuilt kernel with acpi=ht, all the above-mentioned
problems go away.
So the problem can be worked around by recompiling the kernel with
CONFIG_ACPI_AC and CONFIG_ACPI_BUTTON turned off, and booting with acpi=ht.
This is unfortunately at the expense of acpi features and dual core (without
acpi, only one cpu is recognized).
