What do you mean by "unstable"?

Hm - side effect from my mouse patch? Stefan, when did the mouse race condition
bug fix get in?

Please test the following:
Get into runlevel 3 and start the installation Xserver (as root)
X -xf86config xorg.conf.install & sleep 3 && DISPLAY=:0 xterm
In the xterm you can start
fvwm2&
sax2 -r
and try to "test" the configuration as before. If this doesn't reproduce the
same issue, it's probably unrelated to the patch.
