[Bug 227111] Text is so large that system is unusable

I changed the xorg.conf file so that the DisplaySize was 578 by 324.
It made no noticeable difference after reboot.
Even if the display size were off by a factor of 2 I'm not sure that would be
the problem because the text is at least 20 times too big.
In Konsole, the KDE terminal, the menu takes up the top half of the screen
because the text is so large. The text in the application itself is properly
sized. The same goes with other applications I have tried such as Firefox.
