https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=206137 ------- Comment #6 from mrmazda@ij.net 2006-12-09 21:09 MST ------- The gist of the trouble I think you can see here: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3815 https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4076 Interest in fixing CIFS issues among those competent to do so is limited to about 2 people, Steve French and Guenther Kukkukk, and neither seem to give it much priority. It appears Apple is interested in keeping SMBFS alive according to activity on the samba-technical mailing list. Debian Etch, Ubuntu 6.10 and Mandriva 2007 compile SMBFS modules along with their stock kernels. The only other current distro I've tried besides SUSE that has actually dropped SMBFS is Fedora, but FC did dropped in version before last (FC5). Even the update FC4 kernel 2.6.17 retains smbfs. Until CIFS is mature enough to replace SMBFS, SMBFS support needs to be retained. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
