https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=227406 Summary: KNetworkManager don't show wireless connection (airport 808.11b). Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: PowerPC OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: iakynet@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Hello. KNetworkManager don't show wireless connection (airport 802.11b), only show the ethernet connection. When pushing 'Options -> Activate wireless connection' in KNetworkManager applet it do nothing. The thing is that NetworkManager seems to detects the wireless card in eth1, but with driver 'macio' instead of 'aiport' (it could be the problem...): $nm-tool NetworkManager Tool State: connected - Device: eth1 ---------------------------------------------------------------- NM Path: /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/Devices/eth1 Type: 802.11 Wireless Driver: macio Active: no HW Address: 00:30:65:29:34:B3 Capabilities: Supported: yes Speed: 11 Mb/s Wireless Settings Scanning: yes WEP Encryption: yes WPA Encryption: yes WPA2 Encryption: yes Wireless Networks (* = Current Network) - Device: eth0 ---------------------------------------------------------------- NM Path: /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/Devices/eth0 Type: Wired Driver: gem Active: yes HW Address: 00:0A:95:87:21:5E Capabilities: Supported: yes Carrier Detect: yes Speed: 100 Mb/s Wired Settings Hardware Link: yes IP Settings: IP Address: 192.168.1.174 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Broadcast: 192.168.1.255 Gateway: 192.168.1.1 Primary DNS: 192.168.1.1 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Wireless card is also detected in yast network module. Moreover, KNetworkManager works fine for me in OpenSuse 10.1 (it can activate and desactivate network connection, detect wireless networks, etc). File /var/log/NetworkManager show this repeated times: Dec 9 18:15:18 serenity NetworkManager: <info> Deactivating device eth1. Dec 9 18:15:19 serenity NetworkManager: <info> Now managing wireless (802.11) device 'eth1'. Dec 9 18:15:19 serenity NetworkManager: <info> Deactivating device eth1. So the problem is: KNetworkManager do no show the wireless connection and do not allow to work with it.
