Did you use a newer autoinst YaST that what is on the DVD? AFAIR I was using
text-mode installation, and I realized that YaST is silently busy an extended
amount of time after reboot, and it expects the installation DVD being stil in
the drive. I cannot remember any unusual popup messages. Maybe if the final
configuration is expected to happen after reboot, maybe that phase silently
failed? I did the install at least on three identical servers, and the result
was identical (e.g. empty root password). Very strange...
