Summary: After doing an 'update' from Beta2 to RC1, the new Xen
Grub gives an error
Product: openSUSE 10.2
Version: RC 1
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Blocker
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Xen
AssignedTo: cgriffin@xxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: greg.riedesel@xxxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx
I had a working Xen installation from Beta2. After doing the 'update' to RC1,
there is a new grub line for the new kernel (2.6.18.2-23-xen). Running that
gives an error message:
-----------
Booting 'Kernel-2.6.18.2-23-xen'
root (hd1,2)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
kernel /boot/xen.gz
[Multiboot-elf, <0x100000:0x92718:0x488e8>, shtab=0x1db078, entry=0x100000]
kernel /boot/vmlinux-2.6.18.2-23-xen root=/dev/sdb3 /resume=/dev/sdb2
splash=silent showopts
Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format
Press any key to continue...
------------
The normal kernel loads just fine. The old Xen grub entry for 2.6.18.2-4-xen
also fails, but with an Error 15.
/boot/xen.gz is a symlink to /boot/xen-3.0.3_11774-15.gz, which exists.
The root filesystem on /dev/sdb3 is an ext3 system.
This error has halted my testing of Xen in openSUSE. Removing and reinstalling
the kernel-xen package did not affect this problem. Let me know what additional
information will be useful.
