[Bug 220912] kicker crashes (dbus)

What you are describing in comment is clearly bug 217563. This is already fixed
for RC1 (but not yet synced out), so please use the test packages from the
above bug or wait for RC1.
The problem here seems to be that some library that kicker uses doesn't deal
gracefully if there is no hald running. I noticed the kicker crashes, too, and
it was always related to hald not running.
