This getting complicated now ;-)...
Logging in as first user from kdm with session GNOME, locking works.
Starting from a KDE session a GNOME session on the next display locking in menu
doesn't work.
Running above command in a shell in that GNOME session works.
After having run above command once the lock button in the main menu starts
also to work.
