https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=216853 trenn@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|ASSIGNED |NEEDINFO Info Provider| |mboman@novell.com ------- Comment #14 from trenn@novell.com 2006-11-03 07:26 MST ------- Sorry that was my fault, I slipped into the wrong dir, (/tmp/linux-2.6..., /tmp/kernel_compiles/linux-2.6...) First: libata.ata_acpi=0 should workaround the bug for faster booting. I again placed a kernel tar in my home (same file, date: 03.11, 15:21). The steps: cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18.1-default cp System.map /boot/System.map-2.6.18.1-default make modules_install cd /boot (to be sure you may want to do a depmod -F /boot/System.map-2.6.18.1-default here, but this should already be done) mkinitrd -k vmlinuz-2.6.18.1-default -i initrd-2.6.18.1-default Please attach dmesg output of this one then. The problem seems to be that libata calls _GTF function before _STM has been called. This is forbidden by ACPI spec. A possible other bug could be that _STM has been invoked with wrong values, but I doubt that... all this should be included in the debug output...
