[Bug 215192] New: Please add OnlyShowIn=GNOME to the application-browser autostart .desktop file
- From: bugzilla_noreply@xxxxxxxxxx
- Date: Wed, 25 Oct 2006 21:27:26 -0600 (MDT)
- Message-id: <bug-215192-21960@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/>
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=215192
Summary: Please add OnlyShowIn=GNOME to the application-browser
autostart .desktop file
Product: openSUSE 10.2
Version: Beta 1
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: Major
Priority: P5 - None
Component: GNOME
AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: andreas.hanke@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx
gnome-main-menu includes /opt/gnome/share/autostart/application-browser.desktop
which is intended to run "application-browser -h" in order to preload the
application browser during GNOME login.
This does currently not work because of bug 208680. But as soon as 208680 is
fixed, a new bug will pop up: application-browser.desktop does not have a
proper OnlyShowIn line and is therefore autostarted in _all_ XDG environments.
I just simulated this my moving
/opt/gnome/share/autostart/application-browser.desktop to /etc/xdg/autostart
and now it is indeed autostarted with KDE, which is not useful at all and
causes a notable slowdown during KDE startup on systems where both environments
are installed.
