https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=214303 ------- Comment #5 from jnelson-suse@jamponi.net 2006-10-25 08:56 MST ------- As I said in comment 2, this happens with *both* of my gig-e cards (VIA Velocity and RTL8169). Also as I said, there *is* no message. As for it being a problem with the driver, why would that be? I can set the MTU to 7200 any time *after* the *first* 'ifup'. *If*, and only if, the MTU is set to 7200 in /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth-.... *and* we are bringing the card up for the first time does this happen. As an aside (should I file a seperate bug?), failure to bring up an interface should *not* bring the startup to a screeching halt. Here is the 'hwinfo --netcard' for the Velocity (I don't have access to the RTL8169 right now). 13: PCI 0d.0: 0200 Ethernet controller [Created at pci.300] UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pci_1106_3119 Unique ID: JNkJ.0lAtqe+NIG1 SysFS ID: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:0d.0 SysFS BusID: 0000:00:0d.0 Hardware Class: network Model: "VIA VT6120/VT6121/VT6122 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter" Vendor: pci 0x1106 "VIA Technologies, Inc."
