[Bug 211094] New: Can't Navigate Boot Menu After Booting From Install DVD
- From: bugzilla_noreply@xxxxxxxxxx
- Date: Mon, 9 Oct 2006 10:13:03 -0600 (MDT)
- Message-id: <bug-211094-21960@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/>
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=211094
Summary: Can't Navigate Boot Menu After Booting From Install DVD
Product: openSUSE 10.2
Version: Alpha 5
Platform: x86
OS/Version: SuSE Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Blocker
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Installation
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: podjan@xxxxxxxxx
QAContact: jsrain@xxxxxxxxxx
In openSUSE 10.2 Alpha 5, after booting from the install DVD I am unable to
navigate the boot menu to choose from any of the options. The menu looks normal
except for a small black box in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. The
box contains two columns, one titled 'data', the other titled 'prog', each has
a number of hex values listed below it. When I press a key the values decrease
until the value of the row labeled '1' becomes zero, at which time the boot
menu disappears and I'm left with only a black console screen and a 'boot:'
prompt.
I suspect it has something to do with the fact that I have two video cards as I
don't have the same problem on similar systems. The on-board video (ATi Rage
XL) cannot be disabled in the BIOS, the monitor is connected to a Nvidia 6800
GS AGP. Please let me know if I can provide any more info. Thanks.
