The initrd cannot be made for some reason if KDE is present in the
software/base like thus:

    <base>default</base>
    <base>KDE</base>

Even if default is left /out/ (ie, *just* <base>KDE</base>) the same problem
occurs.  For some reason, the boot loader and/or mkinitrd step fails.

I was able to reproduce the problem 4 times in a row, but I can't do that now
because the machines are unavailable for that purpose. However, it is very easy
to reproduce.
