this is ibm netfinity 5000, testing a sles 10 install.
machine hwinfo output is attached to the bug 178029.
when installation is started, first console stops at :
"Found a Linux console terminal on /dev/console"
for four minutes.

last line in the third terminal is "Starting setctsid `showconsole` inst_setup
yast".

installation process continues after four minutes. during this delay "top"
output shows that xmset is using >99% cpu time.

machine has a ps/2 logitech mouse attached.
