https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=204376 ------- Comment #16 from dkukawka@novell.com 2006-09-20 07:39 MST ------- "volume.ignore" is not rush assigned to all not mounted partitions. Take a look at bug #155682 to understand why we need to do this. And in fact this flag was only added to unremoveable/not hotpluggable volumes/partitions. This is something complete different. Sorry, but the second part of the comment is confusing. We do exactly this in HAL before mount. HAL checks if there is a fstab entry with user/users and allow mount also of "volume.ignore" is true. Btw. "volume.ignore" is _only_ a hint for e.g. desktop tools to ignore some partitions. This does not mean the desktop could check more of the device information in HAL and display the partition to the user. From the HAL spec: This is a hint to software higher in the stack that this volume should be ignored. If TRUE, the volume should be invisible in the UI and mount wrappers should refuse to mount it on behalf on an unprivileged user. This is useful for hiding e.g. firmware partitions (e.g. bootstrap on Mac's) and OS reinstall partitions on e.g. OEM systems. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
