I am not sure if that can work or if it even is desirable.

Users who decide they always want to have the latest "factory" packages will
very likely point their main repository to "factory" to begin with. Will they
bother with patches at all? AFAIK we don't even have patches for "factory" -
you simply always update your system to use the latest packages.

If OTOH you install 10.1, you will want an update repostitory that contains the
latest 10.1 patches. You will always have the latest up-to-date 10.1 release
then.

SLES users for sure want to stay on one well-defined release - SLES-10 with all
the latest SLES-10 patches, for example. They will even lose the SLES support
that comes as part of their SLES contract if they install patches from any
other repository.

Mixing "factory" and a patch repository for any specific released version is
asking for trouble IMHO.
