https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=160899 ------- Comment #7 from jsmeix@novell.com 2006-09-08 08:00 MST ------- After talking to our resmgr maintainer even more, I will try to implement the following (hopefully) final solution and fall back to comment #6 if it is not possible: The command ----------------------------------------------------------------- for d in /usr/share/sane/descriptions/*.desc \ /usr/share/sane/descriptions-external/*.desc ; \ do grep ':usbid' $d ; \ done | sort -u ----------------------------------------------------------------- results at the moment 515 different scanners with known USB IDs. I will not skip /usr/share/sane/descriptions/unsupported.desc because even for scanners which are known to be unsupported there should be user access by default because the user might find and install a third-party driver. For USB scanners with known USB IDs I will create a fixed HAL fdi file with all those entries and add "scanner" to the list of strings in info.capabilities For SCSI scanners which identify itself with "scsi.type = scanner" I will add one fixed generic entry like item A) in comment #6 and add "scanner" to the list of strings in info.capabilities For USB scanners with unknown USB IDs and/or for SCSI scanners which identify itself not with "scsi.type = scanner" I will let YaST write appropriate entries to /etc/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/80-scanner.fdi as described in comment #6 (but in contrast to what is described in comment #6 I will add "scanner" to info.capabilities). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
