that's true. Where did you find documentation that it should work?

That is if you treat SLES like Red Hat the result is maybe an install
maybe not but missing packages and broken links in the file system.

then don't treat SLES like a Red Hat system? It is none.

Is there a way to tell the installer to check the gpg keys per media
before attempting an install and wasting a lot of time?

I don't even think we have any keys on any other media than the first one.
So there is nothing to check
